Dr. Joel Bennett

img_0139Dr. Joel Bennett opened the Ark Veterinary Hospital in 1988. He received his bachelor degree in veterinary medicine in 1985 from Texas A & M University, and his doctorate from Texas A & M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. His interests are in providing the finest healthcare for animals in the Hill Country. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Lifetime member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, Kerrville Veterinary Medical Association, and the Association of Avian Veterinarians. He is licensed to practice in Texas and New Mexico. He enjoys working with dogs, cats, birds, and ferrets, but likes the variety of treating reptiles and other exotics, both large and small. His other interests are in pain management, preventative medicine, geriatrics, emergency care, dermatology, ultrasoundography, and safe capture of exotics.

Dr. Bennett also has a 26 year old daughter named Tamara. Our family pets consist of yorkies; the cat Kidder; Honey, the pet axis deer; Criesy Bear, the Boer Boel Mastiff; and her four puppies, and Pebbles the boxer. We also have many talking parrots including Zazu in front, and macaws and chickens and emus that live at his Ranch. Adult white tailed deer, once bottle raised, now return with their babies for their daily food. Dr. Bennett always has other dogs and cats available for adoption that can normally be found playing at his ranch. When he has time, he loves camping, hiking, jet skiing, snow skiing, fishing and motorcycle and horseback riding.
