Nearly 100 Dogs Die from Tainted Dog Food Diamond Pet Foods voluntarily recalled 19 varieties of dog and cat food in late December of 2005 after tests showed high levels of aflatoxin. Aflatoxin is a naturally occurring compound that comes from a fungus found on corn and other grains and causes severe liver damage in animals. If you have an old bag of Diamond food that was made from September to November of 2005, than you should return it to the store that you purchased it from. Diamond has recalled food that was manufactured at their Gaston, South Carolina plant during that particular time. One can contact Diamond by either calling 1-866-214-6945 or their website shown below with a complete list of the specifics. Diamond Pet Food Recall Website Friends of the Vet We're planning a new section to our web site, and we need your help. This section will feature pictures of our patients, YOUR pets. We will periodically feature them along with amusing tales and accomplishments. This will be fun for everyone. We only wish our pets could read it too. Also, a number of select patients and their problems will be shown and changed regularly. Your pet maybe next. Angel has KCS or dry eye which if handled properly, the vision and the eye can be saved. Ten Commandments for a Responsible Pet Owner 1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you will be very painful. 2. Give me time to understand what you want of me. 3. Place your trust in me - it is crucial for my well-being. 4. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up for punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment. I HAVE ONLY YOU! 5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your words, I understand your voice when it's speaking to me. 6. Be aware that however you treat me, I'll NEVER forget it. 7. Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you. 8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I've been out in the sun too long, or my heart may be getting old and weak. 9. Take care of me when I get old. You, too, will grow old. 10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear to watch it", or, "let it happen in my absence." Everything is easier for ME if you are there. Remember, I love you. Jennifer Scozzari loves her cat Sparkles. Every night Sparkles waits by the dinner table for someone to get up so she can get into their empty chair. Then Sparkles eyes their wadded up napkin and smacks it with her paw, across the room so she can chase it. Ethan Llanos sits with his two corgis Ashley and Budgie waiting on their treat for being good and not biting the nice doctor. Beth Brooks is holding her new baby emu. Can you believe this will stand over 5 1/2 to 6 feet when grown? These sweet babies are not territorial and aggressive like ostriches. They can be quite social and fun to raise. |
