Grooming

The Ark Veterinary Hospital in Kerrville offers a state-of-the-art grooming facility. Professional all-breed grooming features Hydrosurge bathing equipment and an aloe & oatmeal natural shampoo. The Hydrosurge not only deep cleans their pores, its action massages their skin and muscles too. Medicated shampoos are also available for special needs. Fluff drying and hand brushing are both standard procedures.

For boarded pets, a scheduled grooming or clean up bath on the day of departure will send your pet home in beautiful, clean condition. Please call in advance 830-257-6949 to make your reservation!

Training

The Ark Veterinary Hospital can help your pet with basic obedience, protection, and behavior modification, as well as service dog training. Training your dog should be fun for you and your dog. Balanced training methods enhance the dog's natural suspicion and protection instincts through confidence building - not intimidation or force.

Prevent behavior problems in dogs! Puppies should be exposed in a positive way to many people, including children, of different sexes, races, and ages, and other animals during the socialization period especially when between 3-16 weeks of age. As adults, well socialized dogs exhibit increased exploratory behavior, increased learning ability and increased sociability toward people compared to unsocialized dogs.

Prevent behavior problems in cats. Kittens between the ages of 2-7 weeks of age should be handled everyday for a few minutes. Studies have shown that their learning is enhanced then and handled kittens are more affectionate and learn more quickly as adults.

Our residency programs prove to be especially effective for training overly hyperactive dogs, or dogs with aggressive tendencies. Private lesson programs allow you and your dog to learn a new command. Please call 830-257-6949 for more information.
