Dr. Joel Bennett opened the Ark Veterinary Hospital in 1988. He received his bachelor degree in veterinary medicine in 1985 from Texas A & M University, and his doctorate from Texas A & M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. His intersts are in providing the finest healthcare for animals in the Hill Country. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Texas Veterinary Medical Association, Kerrville Veterinary Medical Association, and the Association of Avian Veterinarians. He is licensed to practice in Texas and New Mexico. He enjoys working with dogs, cats, birds, and ferrets, but likes the variety of treating reptiles and other exotics, both large and small. His other interests are in preventative medicine, geriatrics, emergency care, dermatology, ultrasoundography, and safe capture of exotics. Dr. Bennett has a 16 year old daughter named Tamara and Chelsea who is 14. Both help take care of the family pets. Family pets consist of yorkies; cats Whiskers, Socks, and Simba; a very crazy pet goat named George;Trouble, a new bottle raised goat; Loretta, the English Mastiff; and Tamara's horse Sweetie. He also has many talking parrots and macaws and rescued chickens and emus that were abandoned now thriving at his Ranch. Adult white tailed deer, once bottle raised, now return with their babies for their daily food. Dr. Bennett always has other dogs and cats available for adoption that can normally be found playing at his ranch. When he has time, he loves camping, hiking, jet skiing, snow skiing, fishing and horseback riding. Joanna Bennett is our receptionist. Joanna usually answers the telephone and handles all of the adoptions of our animals. She is instrumental in answereing questions and explaining any details of aftercare to clients. If you need any help, just ask for Joanna. Lizzie Bueche, our veterinary assistant and receptionist, is helping Dr. Bennett with Brutus. Lizzie has worked in many veterinary hospitals in Texas and New Mexico. She enjoys helping clients with their pets. Brutus is one of seven dachshund littermates previously bottle raised by Dr. Bennett and staff. Tara is one of our relief veterinary technicians. She enjoys staying busy both day and night. She is an EMT at night and sometimes our vet tech during the day. She likes helping both 2 and 4 legged patients. Tamara Bennett is 16 years old now. Here, she was about 11 years old and helping with the mail. She is often seen on weekends helping with some of the animals. |
